-Future meetings will be held in the ’Waiting Room’
-WA has given support to the ARTA ‘Sustainable Transport Plan’
-Information on activities from SALT was tabled
-Changes to City Bylaws also tabled. WA backs these changes
-WA discussed the stadium site on the waterfront and unanimously agreed to write to the ARC to vote ‘NO’
Jen to write to Mike Lee Chairman of the ARC
Report on highway plans around Onehunga & Mangere including proposed demolition of
old bridge and new pedestrian access
WA to back Bridget to find a better way & retain bridge
Graeme spoke on the Walk/Cycle review strategy. He also discussed the attitudes of Community Constables towards walkways which they see as ‘bad’ & leading to crime. From discussion the committee decided that if more people use them they will become ‘safe’
Marie to send Walking Map Tool Box to Graeme and Jen.
Jen has noticed an increase in speed in cars driving certain streets in Ponsonby. She sees a need for a survey of red light running and a redesign of road and footpath to make safer for pedestrians
Jen to write a letter to Dick Hubbard, Richard Simpson and Keith Barker - Sergeant Section STU in charge of traffic. Marie to ask for a representative of the police to speak at our meeting in December on redlight usage.
Graeme is putting forward a 40KM speed limit on Ponsonby Rd together with a reconfiguration of road and footpath to increase pedestrian safety.
The committee supports his proposals
Ludo Campbell-Reid has offered to speak to our group and work with us to make to city more pedestrian friendly.
Marie to invite Ludo to speak at our meeting in February 2007
