Discussion
Action
Ron and Robin to decide on action over pavement conditions, restoration, issue.
Robin, Ron.
Auckland City Annual plan due out in draft end March. This item on agenda for next meeting. Bridget identified retention of old Mangere Bridge as significant, for linkage between cities, and pedestrian transport.
All – priorities for our submission, special issues, etc. [Bridget to report on Mangere Bridge in detail at meeting April 8.]
All local councils put out annual plans. WA should try to respond to them if possible.
Robin to get copies as they come up.
Michelle reported that Holly Bogle, manager of Harvard’s Commuter Choice programme is giving an informal session about her work at the ARC, Wed 12 March. Extended an invitation for a person from WA to attend.
Robin to attend.
Michelle reported that the transport point of the ARC’s 10-point plan of the Big Clean Up, being, "Reduce your car trips by two a week", is coming up for PR soonish. Suggested WA could take a piggyback action on back of that publicity. Some discussion around fact that we’re still currently tiny, and any action would need reasonable organisation and probably more than 2 people! One suggestion was banners on pedestrian overbridge over motorway, preferably at rush hour, with sign "We’re moving faster than you are". Unresolved whether we would follow this up or not.
All – if anyone thinks of feasible, enticing or exciting plan, please bring it along to next meeting.
Michelle has copy of "Home Zone Design Guidelines" book that people can borrow. Graeme first to borrow it.
Graeme to return next meeting. Marie to copy disc when she gets it.
Graeme reported that the ACC draft footpath policy is still open for public consultation.
Graeme to find out how we can get involved.
Draft constitution still needed.
Andy to email draft copy a constitution he’s got for people to look at.
Kit suggested that the standard of WA meetings could be improved by the giving of a ‘task’ to participants, which in theory encourages them to return to following meeting. Robin commented that she’s happy to return without needing a task to hook her in. But, basically all agreed the idea is sound. People need to feel involved.
Needs to be facilitated by chair/sec.
Discussion of Marie’s design for WA flier.
Marie has this available to be used
