Welcome to Ron. Ron is involved in setting up a database to assist
anyone with a Physically Handicap to navigate the city, improve
footpaths & drivers behaviour and put more seats along walking ways

Graeme reported back on the Ponsonby Rd Crash Study. Recommendations
include bigger and better pedestrian refuges - lowering speed limits in
selected streets.

Jen reported back from the sub-committee of the ARTA Regional Walking
Strategy . The group has to decide on the criteria for choosing which
town and suburban centres in the Auckland Province should receive
finance to improve pedestrian safety & access to community areas eg
schools, parks etc. Decisions to be made by October 14th . Jen's
suggestion of an 0800 number was supported by our committee.

Bridget reported on Ellerslie & Onehunga Council. They are analysing
access to schools in the area so they can set up safe walking routes for
school buses and avoid congestion of traffic at school gates.
