. Taina von Blaramberg has resigned her position with ACC, replaced by Catherine Gilhooley – Community Injury Prevention Programme.
Living Streets Aotearoa sent an email re their AGM August 3rd and an invitation to send in a sub and join their national group. WA decided not to do that at the moment; no one stepped forward to be on the national committee (decided we needed to keep a focus on where we are going at the moment, before dispersing our energies further afield); agreed we would set up website link to their website. We’d be interested to compare our strategies and constitutions, but not make any formal relationship at the moment.
Andy to set up the website link to Living Communities, and as they have been contacting him directly by email, to let them know we won’t be attending AGM, and don’t yet want any more formal involvement.
. Received an email from North Shore Walking Network, who are meeting quarterly. They’ve invited a WAer to speak to their group at the next meeing and advise how WA got established, etc.
Kit to attend this meeting with North Shore Walking Network, Monday 11 August, 2-4pm, Community Board Room, 2 The Strand, Takapuna.
Communication from Anne Hartley, who is the organiser of a meeting with Helen Clark re a cycle/pedestrian bridge over the (existing) Auckland Harbour Bridge. Motion put by Kit and passed that WA support a pedestrian/cycle route over existing bridge. Motion passed that Robin take fare from petty cash to attend meeting.
Robin to attend meeting by invite with Helen Clark, PM, on 11 August, 7.30pm at Glenfield Leisure Centre.
Claire presented her summary on what a pedestrian campaign should involve and what not to do. Offered thanks to Ron and Marie for their excellent little survey. Announced a budget of $10K for WA campaign as part of her bigger campaign. This is LTSA funding, and thus must meet LTSA requirements. A project plan is required, (can be brief, at least 1 A4 page), including issues to be addressed/objectives, idea of budget expenditure, how to evaluate how the campaign worked and this evaluation due a month after completion of the project. Concentrate on ‘share the road’ concept, making motorists aware that pedestrians share the road usage. Raise issues of pedestrian behaviours. Possibility of banner across Ponsonby Road.
SEPTEMBER for planningOCT/NOV for implementationDECEMBER for repor t back to LTSAMail drop, banner, posters in windows, choccies with printed messages handed out with coffee, involve all Ponsonby Rd cafes in this one. Claire using pedestrian statistics ‘bodies’ downtown in launch of her campaign.

Claire to email copy of her own objectives/criteria to Robin.
Mr Graeme Poole contacted Claire re WA
Robin to contact.
New website up and running, looking good, thanks to Andy and his buddy who designed it.
Andy presented a copy of email communication between a Ponsonby resident called Sally Beale and himself. Briefly. Sally unhappy at having WA fliers put on her car, says she can’t park anywhere else. Andy invited her to attend next meeting. Hopefully she will. Andy a master of diplomacy!!!
Andy to let Sally Beale know date of next meeting.
Kit, Parau St hedge impeding people, complained 4 July, no response thus far, will try again.
Andy going away for several weeks on dancing holiday!! Great dancing and have a good time…
Andy to have a funtabulous holiday.
(belated addition to minutes from Marie and Ron, who turned up wrong day for meeting). The following communication was received by Marie & Ron from LTSA Matt Grant. "Your group definition and interpretation is right ... The yellow (public consultation draft) of the Road User Rule defines driveway as 'a place used or appearing to be used as a vehicle entrance to or exit from land fronting a roadway'.Regarding giving way the current wording of the Rule states that when entering or exiting a driveway a driver must give way to a road user on a footpath or roadway."
